Le co-main event du premier Strikeforce de Karl Amoussou se solde par une "technical draw", sans vainqueur, à cause d'une blessure à l'œil de Karl (causé par un doigt involontaire de Trevor Prangley. Karl semblait se diriger une fois de plus vers une victoire rapide quand l'accident surgit. Le match sera sans doute rejoué à une date ultérieure, plus d'infos dans les prochains jours.

The co-main event pitting UFC veteran Trevor Prangley against Karl Amoussou ended in a technical draw 4:14 into the opening round, when Prangley inadvertently poked his foe in the right eye. The 24-year-old Amoussou informed the cage-side doctor that he could not see, at which point the bout was halted.

Amoussou, one of Europe’s top exports, appeared to build an early lead, as he used his blinding hand speed to repeatedly tag Prangley with punches to the head. The 37-year-old South African’s offense was limited to some brief clinch work and a mid-round takedown.

Karl combattra finalement sur deux continents : En Asie et en Amérique du Nord. Psycho vient de signer un contrat de 4 combats pour le Strikeforce en plus du Dream. La succession de victoire depuis celle du 100% Fight contre Grégory Babène lui ouvre enfin les portes de ces deux prestigieuses organisation qui à elles seules, montre l'étendue de la route qui reste à parcourir. Après le stage de Las Vegas avec Wanderleï Silva, Karl se prépare actuellement pour son prochain combat, au Strikeforce, prévu pour la fin du mois.

Après Fedor Emelianenko et Gerard Mousasi, Le M-1 Global Management compte un troisième combattant dans son team : Karl Amoussou. C'est au M-1 Gym des Pays-Bas que Karl Amoussou prépare son premier combat au Dream où une semaine durant, il enchaînera sparrings sur sparrings avec les combattants de l'écurie Hollandaise.

Nous venons de recevoir les premières photos de ses entraînements avec Gerard Mousasi, (combattant Light Heavy Weight Champion du Strikeforce et du Dream) qui attesta hier (vidéo à découvrir sur le site officiel prochainement), du haut niveau du prochain enfant terrible du Dream. En attendant son retour en France, Karl vous adresse ses salutations martiales  d'Amsterdam.

Congratulations with your Dream contract, how do you feel?

I feel more than good. I’ve been waiting a long time to enter a big organization. I Started fighting when I saw the shows in Japan. Now it’s a dream come true to fight for DREAM. I love Japan for its show, the fans and mentality towards M.M.A. Now it’s my turn, I’m ready and can’t wait to get in the ring and show the world what I trained for all my life.

Do you know when you will fight in Dream?

At the moment there is no official date but my guess it would be in the beginning of 2010. No matter what I will be ready.

There are a lot of fighters in the 84kg division who would you like to face?

I really would like to face fighters like Cyborg or Manhoef. They are tough and they like to trade just like me. Those type of matches are fights that fans would like to see. I also would like to face the Japanese fighters like Minowa and Sakuraba. They are the crowd favorite and I would love to fight those guys.

Can you comment about the following fighters in the division and tell us your thoughts?

Melvin Manhoef

Very strong and aggressive fighter, his ground game is his weakness but trust me I’m not afraid to bang with him.

Paulo Filhio

Hard fighter with superior ground game. His style is to one dimensional and his biggest fight is against himself. If heard that he has some personal difficulties.

Sakuraba

Legendary fighter, stepping in the ring with him would be a strange feeling because I watched him many times back in the days when I started M.M.A. but trust me I will be his worst nightmare when we fight.

Would do you like more a cage or a ring?

I like both but prefer cage because of its safety and there is no repositioning. However, a ring has a more interesting view for the public and it looks more like a combat sport. So if they go with a ring or end up being in a cage it is all fine for me.

Après le retrait de Nick Thompson pour blessure lors du co-main event du M-1: Breakthrough, Karl affrontait ce vendredi l'américain et ex-UFC John Doyle (8.8). La pesée du M-1 Breakthrough a été marquée par quelques débordements lors du face à face entre John Doyle et Karl Amoussou. L'Américain n'a apparemment pas apprécié la tentative d'intimidation du Français qui est venu coller son front sur le sien lui rendit la pareille en le repoussant de la tête. Les deux hommes ont rapidement été séparés et le shooting photo a été écourté. "Don't be scared" lui lança, amusé, le champion tricolore, comme un avant goût du fight qui les opposera le lendemain, à Kansas City.

Un combat bref, rapidement amené au sol et dominé par un Karl Amoussou plus déterminé que jamais a écourter le séjour de Doyle sur son ring. Quelques minutes et un choke plus tard, Karl signe sa 11ème victoire avant de lancer à la caméra ses toutes prochaines intentions. Après avoir signé Fedor et Mousasi, c'est le Strikeforce qui devrait signer prochainement celui qui est considéré comme le premier espoir d'Europe par le team Sherdog.
